Bacon Rosettes

Overview

After running consumer studies in order to rethink how bacon is cooked, oven safe plastic was used to create a tray that lends itself to party events such as charcuterie boards or appetizers.

Consumer Studies

Through interviews, surveys, and watching human interaction with the product various customer patterns were identified. This data was collected and used to inform a way to enter a new form of bacon cooking into the market.

Design

After conducting physical testing, finding a way to keep bacon in contact with the grease to preserve the flavor while not becoming heavily soaked became a high priority. This was accomplished when ideating via Blender on tray designs. A grease trap was added to the bottom of the tray, collecting the excess while, a small amount pools around the base of the rosette. To keep the bacon in its shape a post is used to keep it upright while a "cup" is used to hold its shape without expanding.
